  Cap 132A s 7 Food animals which may be brought into abattoir
  
  (1) No person shall bring into or keep in an abattoir any animal other than a food animal except with the consent of the manager. (L.N. 279 of 1991)
  
  (2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence. (78 of 1999 s. 7)
  
  Cap 132A s 8 Restriction on admission of food animals to abattoir
  
  (1) No person shall bring into or keep in an abattoir-
  
  (a) any animal other than a food animal; and
  
  (b) any food animal for any purpose other than slaughter for human consumption, except with the permission of the manager. (L.N. 279 of 1991) (1A) An authorized officer may require any food animal admitted to an abattoir to be examined to ascertain whether it is fit for human consumption when slaughtered.   (2) Any person who brings a food animal into an abattoir in contravention of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence. (78 of 1999 s. 7)

  Cap 132A s 8A Restriction on admission of animal carcass
  
  Remarks:
  
  Adaptation amendments retroactively made - see 59 of 2000 s. 3
  
  (1) Subject to subsection (2), no person shall bring into an abattoir any carcass.
  
  (2) A person may bring a carcass of a food animal into an abattoir for examination under section 27 if-
  
  (a) the carcass has been bled; and
  
  (b) it is accompanied by a certificate from an authorized officer and, in the case of soliped sent in by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, by a Veterinary Officer appointed by that Club stating- (59 of 2000 s. 3)
  
  (i) the exact time and date of killing and bleeding;
  
  (ii) the reason for the slaughter of the food animal;
  
  (iii) that, to his knowledge, the food animal was not slaughtered by reason of disease or is not for any other cause unfit for human consumption; and
  
  (iv) that, to his knowledge, no drug which could affect the fitness of the carcass (including the offal) for human consumption was administered to the food animal before it was slaughtered. (3) A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence.

  Cap 132A s 9 Food animals not to be removed alive from abattoir without consent of manager
  
  (1) No person shall, except at the direction or with the consent in writing of the manager, remove alive from an abattoir any food animal which has been admitted to the abattoir in accordance with this Regulation. (L.N. 33 of 1975; L.N. 279 of 1991)
  
  (2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence. (L.N. 210 of 1972)

  Cap 132A s 10 Power of manager to refuse to admit food animals if insufficient accommodation available
  
  The manager of an abattoir may refuse to admit to the abattoir a food animal if in his opinion there is insufficient accommodation available in the abattoir for the food animal.

  Cap 132A s 11 Admission form to be completed
  
  (1) When a food animal is admitted to an abattoir, a statement in the prescribed form in respect of the food animal shall be delivered to the manager within 24 hours thereafter. (See Schedule 3, Form 1)
  
  (2) If a statement is not delivered to the manager in accordance with subsection (1), then- (78 of 1999 s. 7)
  
  (a) the owner of the food animal; and
  
  (b) the person who was in charge of the food animal at the time of its admission, shall be guilty of an offence.

  Cap 132A s 12 Power of authorized officer to affix tags or marks to food animals
  
  (1) An authorized officer may affix to a food animal which has been admitted to an abattoir a tag or mark for the purpose of recording its admission and disposal in the abattoir.
  
  (2) Any person in an abattoir who, without the consent of the manager, removes, alters or interferes with a tag or mark affixed to a food animal under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine at level 4 and to imprisonment for 6 months.   Cap 132A s 12A Removal of food animal to another abattoir
  
  (1) A manager may in writing direct-
  
  (a) the owner of a food animal in an abattoir; or
  
  (b) any person appearing to the manager to be in charge of a food animal in an abattoir, to remove the food animal from the abattoir to a licensed slaughterhouse for slaughter. (L.N. 329 of 1990)
  
  (2) Any person who fails to comply with a direction given to him by a manager under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence. (78 of 1999 s. 7)
